Singpass-verified providers
Before anyone can list an item or service, they verify their identity through Singpass, Singapore's national digital identity system. That means every listing has a real, verified resident behind it, not an anonymous account. It is the digital equivalent of knowing your neighbour's face and flat number.
Stripe pre-authorised deposits
Renters pre-authorise a deposit on their card before every pickup. The deposit is a hold, not a charge. If the item returns in good condition, the hold is released and nothing more is paid. If something goes wrong, the deposit gives the provider real protection, and the handover photos give the renter proof.
Mandatory handover photos
Every rental starts with a timestamped photo at pickup and closes with one at return. These photos are the shared record of an item's condition, so neither side has to rely on memory or goodwill alone.
Human-led dispute review
If a rental goes wrong, a person at SharedOut reviews the evidence with both sides and helps settle it fairly. We do not hand disputes to automated systems, because trust between neighbours deserves a human judgment.
